By the mercy of Allah (S.W.T.), an excellent facility has been established at our Masjid to cater for the need of deceased members of the community. The services provided by Anjuman-E-Anwarul Islam of Malton (Malton Masjid) include:
– Assistance in completing all necessary documents for release and burial of the body
– Transportation of the body to the Masjid, as well as to the cemetery
– Washing of the body
– Shrouding of the body
– Providing coffin and all necessary required articles
– Cold storage facility for delayed burial
– Conduct the funeral prayer
– Family counseling

• During Madresa hours, the deceased family may call for funeral services; however other funeral arrangements will be handled upon completion of the Madresa.
• In addition, the body visitation at the cold room will be restricted from 3:30 pm – 8: 15 pm on weekdays.
• Funeral services may also be offered during after-hours based on the discretion of the Imams.

STEP BY STEP PROCEDURES

At the time of death of a Muslim in family:
1. Contact the Imam immediately to inform him of the death
2. Provide the complete name of the deceased and the contact of the facility where the deceased is located
3. The Imam will contact the facility and will confirm that the body is ready for release
4. Imam co-ordinates with the Next of Kin to handle transport of the body to Malton Masjid
5. Imam co-ordinates with the Next of Kin and volunteers to arrange washing and preparation of the body (including kafan and coffin)
6. Imam will place the body in the cold room if required
7. Imam co-ordinates with cemetery to arrange a burial lot and the timing of burial
8. Imam co-ordinates with the Next of Kin to fill a Statement of Death (Form 15) and obtain necessary fees
9. Imam co-ordinates with the City Clerk Office to obtain the Burial Permit (Form 19)
10. Imam co-ordinates with the Next of Kin to setup and perform Salatul Janazah prayer
11. Imam handles transport of the body to the cemetery
12. Imam handles the burial process and prayers at the cemetery
13. Imam accompanies the Next of Kin to the cemetery office to pay required fees (if not already paid) and also to fill Interments Rights Change Form (if a grave lot being used does not belong to the deceased person)
14. Imam co-ordinates with Next of Kin to hand over the Death Certificate from the Masjid (within a week time). This document is for record purposes only. The legal document is to be obtained through Service Ontario website.
15. Imam guides the Next of Kin to obtain a Statement of Death Certificate from Service Ontario website if requested
16. Imam provides family counseling if requested

Important Notes: 
• Two members from the family of the deceased individual must be available at all times to assist Imam in performing the funeral services among them one must be the Next of Kin.
• In order to assist the family properly and to avoid confusion, during the entire process of funeral service, Imam will be in touch with the Next of Kin. Other family members may receive desired information from him or her.

Additional Useful Notes:
• Same day burial is available, if body is being released, picked up by the Imam and call is being made to the cemetery prior to 10:00 am
• For Saturday, burial is available, if request is being made to the cemetery by 9:00 am on Saturday
• For Sunday, burial is possible, if request is being made by 9:00 am on Saturday
• For statutory holidays, burial is possible, if request is being made by 4:30 pm on previous business day and based on availability of crew members at the cemetery
• Masjid can only pick up deceased individuals located in the GTA (any pick up that is outside the GTA may be possible with management approval, however extra charges will apply)
• Burial arrangements will only be made at Glenview Memorial Gardens by the Masjid
• Burial arrangements at the following cemeteries will also be accommodated provided the family requesting the funeral services make all the necessary arrangements of purchasing a grave lot and burial process timing with the cemetery
o Glendale Memorial Gardens (Albion & HWY 27, 12 mins)
o Beechwood Cemetery (Jane & Steeles, 17.3 km, 25 mins)
o Meadowvale Cemetery (407 & Mavis, 13.5 km, 22 mins)
o Brampton Memorial Gardens (20.2 km, 24 mins)
o Glen Oaks Memorial Gardens (403 & Dundas, 30.6 km, 25 mins)
• Funeral services will be provided on a first come first serve basis
• Funeral vehicle will only be driven by the authorized personnel
• Funeral prayers requested to be conducted at another Masjid or Islamic Centre may be possible in GTA area, however additional charges may apply

FEE STRUCTURE

Adult:
1. Masjid service fee: $900.00*
2. Grave Lot: $2500.00 + HST (13%) = $2825.00 (each) Note: (Please refer to Adult Plot Purchase Guidelines – if you are thinking of purchasing a lot in advance)
3. Lot opening and closing: $1050.00 + HST (13%) = $1186.50**

Total amount: $4911.50

Infant/Child:
1. Masjid service fee: $350.00*
2. Grave Lot: $835.00 + HST (13%) = $943.55 (each)*
3. Lot opening and closing: $255.00 + HST (13%) = $288.15**

Total amount: $1581.70

Still born:
1. Masjid service fee: $350.00*
2. Grave Lot: $420.00 + HST (13%) = $474.60 (each)*
3. Lot opening and closing: $225.00 + HST (13%) = $254.25*

Total amount: $1078.85

Other funeral related fees**:
1. Government registration fees: $11.00 + HST (13%) = $11.30
2. Overtime fees (if applicable)
• Saturdays: To be obtained from the Cemetery at the time of need
• Sundays: To be obtained from the Cemetery at the time of need
• Statutory holidays: To be obtained from the Cemetery at the time of need
3. Headstones (if requested): $1600.00 + HST (13%) = $1808.00

• Masjid will provide an invoice (not an official tax receipt) for the fees paid to the Masjid
